Our Conservation Story

Your conservation fee helps us protect Millstream’s dams, wildlife, and natural spaces. It allows us to stock healthy trout, maintain water quality, care for our zebra and buck, clear invasive plants, and keep the reserve in good condition for owners and guests. Here is where your contribution goes.

Nano-Tech Bubbler

In 2025 we introduced the nano-tech bubbler system. It pushes microscopic oxygen bubbles through the dams, improving water quality, reducing algae, and supporting stronger trout. The system runs continuously to keep the dams clear and stable through the year.

Dam Stocking

Millstream stocks 7,5 tons of trout every year, to keep fishing consistent and to support long-term dam sustainability. Lake Millstream welcomed 5,000 fingerlings in the third quarter of 2025, and we will add 5,000 more each year for the next three years. This supports our plan to grow a strong population of wild trout over time. In 2025 we also introduced a limited number of golden trout to add variety and strengthen the overall fish population.

Wildlife Management

We monitor the zebra and buck populations across the property to keep herds healthy and grazing areas balanced. When numbers grow too quickly or when animals move into unsuitable areas, we carry out safe captures and relocations. This protects the herds, prevents overgrazing, and keeps Millstream’s wildlife in good condition year-round.

Alien Plant Removal

We clear invasive plants on an ongoing basis so indigenous vegetation can grow without competition. This protects the natural landscape, improves biodiversity, and helps maintain healthy grazing areas for wildlife. Regular clearing also reduces fire risk and keeps Millstream’s ecosystem stable through the seasons.

Habitat and Trail Care

We maintain the natural grasslands, wetland areas, and walking trails across the property. This includes the new walkway between Tintern and Wordsworth. These paths protect sensitive habitats, keep routes safe for guests, and support a healthy environment for wildlife. Regular upkeep also helps manage erosion, improves water flow, and keeps Millstream’s open spaces in good condition throughout the year.
