BIRD WATCHING
Stunning in the summer months - hard work but rewarding in the winter - over 170 species have been positively identified, of which 30 species are migratory.

These include most of your typical Highveld, Mountain Grassland and Water Birds such as, Red Collard Widows, Red & Yellow Bishops, L.B.J.s such as Wing-snapping and Cloud Cisticolas. Cormorants, Crakes, Dabchicks, Bitterns and Flufftails, with common Raptors being Rufous-breasted Sparrowhawk, Black-shouldered Kites and Jackal Buzzards. An updated Bird List is available from Reception. There is a Bird Hide on the North-Westen side of Wordsworth Waters.

BICYCLES
There are a limited number of bicycles available for hire. Please enquire at Reception.
These bicycles may not be ridden off the Farm.

BOATS
There are rowing boats available on Lake Millstream. Oars and rowlocks can be collected from the Reception for a nominal refundable deposit. Use of these boats is limited to three hours at any one time unless prior arrangements have been made with Management. Life Jackets must be worn. Children under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. The boast must be returned to the jetties after use.
LIFE JACKETS ARE AVAILABLE AT RECEPTION.

BOARD GAMES
Trivial Pursuit, Scrabble, Balderdash, Pictionary, 30 Seconds, Rummy 'O', Chess, Rummikub, Playing Cards. We also have a selection of Puzzles.

BRAAI FACILITIES
Each Cottage has its own outside braai facility as well as a Weber. Fire wood, charcoal and fire lighters can be purchased from Reception during office hours or from the main gate after hours. There are also braai facilities at the Recreational Centre. Braais are permitted in the designated areas only.

CATCH & RELEASE DAMS
Lake Crystabel and Solitary Reaper are trophy dams. We request that you use barbless hooks and release all fish. If you would like to keep one of these for a trophy it has to be bought to Reception for processing.


CHECK IN & OUT TIMES
The CHECK IN time is:- 14h30 for 15h00 on the afternoon of your confirmed arrival.
The CHECK OUT time is:- 09h30 for 10h00 on the morning of your confirmed departure unless your written confirmation states otherwise.
There is a charge of
R100-00 per hour or part thereof for Late Check Outs.

CLIMATE
Millstream is situated nearly 2000m above sea level, in a summer rainfall area. Sunscreen and hats are a must almost all year round due to the altitude.

CLEANING SERVICE
The Cottages are serviced once daily.

CREDIT CARD FACILITIES
All purchases can be made using a credit card (Visa & Master only).

DAY VISITORS
Guests staying on the Farm may entertain day visitors. All Day Visitors are required to pay a non-refundable fee of R50 per car per day or part thereof, on arrival at the Security Gate. Day visitors are NOT permitted to fish but may use all other facilities available on the Farm.

DOCTOR
There are no practicing doctors in Dullstroom (2007).
We advise travelling through to Lydenburg (New name Mashishing) +/- 55 km should you require a doctor.

FISHING
This can be enjoyed on the weirs, ponds or numerous dams. No fishing licences are required to fish on Millstreams waters. Only Fly fishing equipment may be used. Bag limits apply per Cottage per day. Some dams are stricly catch & release. See fishing etiquette for more details. Complete Fishing kits (Rod, Reel, Line & Fly) can be hired from Reception. Additional Flies can also be purchased. Fishing/Casting lessons can be arranged - Advanced booking essential.

FIREWOOD
Firewood, charcoal, fire lighters and matches are available at the Reception and at the Security Gate.

HORSE RIDING
Millstream offers horse rides daily - for the children, the inexperienced and intermediate riders. Most of the common species of Game on the Farm can be seen at close quarters on the one hour rides. All rides are accompanied rides. Please enquire from Reception with regards to times, costs and availability.

KEY & BREAKAGE DEPOSIST
An imprint of your credit card is required on check in. Should everything be found to be in order the imprint is destroyed. Breakages under a R100 are automatically put through your card. Should any breakages total more than a R100 you will be notified on the details provided on check in, before any charges are put through.

LAUNDRY
The washing and drying of clothing can be arranged for a nominal fee.

LINEN
All linen is supplied, fresh towels are provided once a week. Should you require a linen change, this must be arranged in advance and a nominal fee is charged per room.

MOTORCYCLES
Motorcycles are NOT permitted on Millstream.

OVER OCCUPATION
Please note that the number of beds in your unit indicates the number of people allowed to occupy the unit, (this includes children of all ages). Please save us the embarrassment of having to ask some of your GUESTS to leave in order to comply with our rules. If the extra person/s has already spent a night on the Farm you will be charged with a substantial penalty.

PARKING
There are partially covered parking bays, two at each of the 5 bedroom Cottages and one at the 1 and 2 bedroom Cottages.

PETS
NO pets are allowed at Millstream.

A Pharmacy has opened up in the Cherry Grove Centre in Dullstroom +/- 4 km.

RECREATIONAL CENTRE
The C
entre is located adjacent to the Stables close to Reception and offers the following:-
Children's play room, Dart board, Library, Lounge with a fireplace and DSTV, Pool Table, Sauna, Indoor heated pool, Squash court, Table tennis table, Tennis court floodlit.

ROADS
There is approximately 500m of gravel road after turning off the R540 before entering the Farm. There are concrete strip roads on the Farm. NO OFF ROAD RIDING IS PERMITTED. Click on Location at the top of the page to download a Map of how to get to Millstream.

SAFES
Each Cottage has one small Keypad safe for keeping valuables.

SAUNA
At the Recreational Centre. A nominal fee is charged per hour.

SECURITY
The Farm is generally considered to be very secure and the main gate is manned 24 hrs a day. However to assist in preventing any incidents we advise the following:-

  • Do not leave your Cottage unlocked when you go out or retire for the night.
  • Do not leave any valuables laying around lock them in the Keypad safe.
  • Due to the new firearm act we are unfortunately not permitted to keep firearms in the office safe.

TELEPHONE
There is a public card telephone at the Recreational Centre. Cell phone reception varies from Cottage to Cottage.

TELEVISIONS
There are NO Televisions in the Cottages. Television reception can only be obtained by means of a satelite receiver. There are 2 TV sets in the Recreational Centre with full DSTV. The Centre is open 24 hours a day.

WALKS
The farm is 408 hectares in extent, with a fenced boundary approximately 8 km long.
There is one marked walk of 2.5 km. A number of well worn, cut paths lead from each house (See map of farm under Farm Info) to the dams, this network of trails creates several walks which guests may enjoy.

WILD FLOWERS
The Highlands of Mpumalanga renowned for their abundance of wild flowers and Millstream is no exception. With 34 different families listed and some 85 species identified on the farm. Some of the more spectacular, being Brunsvigia radulosa (Tumble weed) Scadoxus puniceus (Royal paint brush) Zantedeschia rehmanni (Pink arum lily) Schizostylis coccinea (Scarlet river lily) an abundance of the grassland orchids and many others. A flower list is available from Reception.
